It indexes photos, videos and audio files. You can then perform almost instantaneous searches and display the results.

Searching is easy, type search terms into the address box. The auto complete will make suggestions to help you. You can search on almost any media attribute.

You can use heatmaps to show where media is and how much of it exists. You are not limited to folders, you can produce heatmaps on any attribute.

Diffractor can quickly view photos and play video and audio. Most common formats are supported.

Get organized. Diffractor can tag multiple selected items at once. Tags are compatible and searchable with many other programs. You can also set copyright, locations or remove tags from multiple files at once. 

Tags are normally stored in the media file. Diffractor supports the following metadata standards: XMP, IPTC, EXIF and ID3. 

On a single media item, you can set the title, copyright, tags, comments and rating in one convenient dialog. Again this information is compatible with other programs. 

Diffractor has a database of towns and cities. This allows very fast setting of location information to a general location. City/State/Country details are updated as well as a GPS location. You cannot use Diffractor to set an exact position on a map, however if you use another application to do this, it will be compatible. 

Diffractor can quickly launch media in other specialised applications. Use Diffractor to locate a photo or video; then open it in paint.net or VLC with a couple of key strokes. 

Diffractor is not Photoshop but it does have some handy photo editing features. Crop, straighten, adjust color, sharpen and de-noise. Sharpen and de-noise uses an advanced wavelet algorithm and the results can be very satisfying. 

It can also convert or resize multiple images at the same time.
